From Sendinblue to Brevo

Overview

The Problem

Sendinblue was becoming Brevo. I was in the room from day one, from kickoff to approving the creative direction and strategy with the agency. Then the brand book arrived, with a few key pages. But a brand book is not a website, and we had no web design system.

The Challenge

From January to March, I had to build that system from scratch with four developers, front and back end. That meant styles, many components, and responsive behavior on every screen. I also had to design new pages the agency never covered. Some of their designs were too static to build, the homepage most of all. Following them to the letter would have broken the product, and ignoring them would have broken the brand.

Decision

Because I had been part of the strategy from the start, I translated the brand's intent instead of copying designs. I built the system on its principles and worked side by side with the developers, so every component was buildable and responsive. Where a design didn't hold up in code, I adapted it and kept its spirit intact.

Result

A smooth May launch, then the remaining pages rolled out by business priority. Brevo gained a design system that never existed before, saving time for both design and dev, and we kept improving key pages with real data.
